On September 16th, 2019, the life of Darlene Montes tragically ended due to a senseless act of violence. Darlene was just a few months shy of her 50th birthday.

Of all the radiant qualities that defined Darlene, her boundless empathy and fierce compassion moved me most deeply. She possessed that rare gift of truly seeing others’ pain,whether human or animal,and refusing to simply witness it. Instead, she would roll up her sleeves and become the answer to someone’s prayer.
